Kuleana Center

"The oldest of Hawaiian chants describe the Hawaiian Islands, the spirits that inhabit them, the forces of nature that shaped them and all the living things upon them as inextricably connected. This sense of connection is the foundation of Hawaiian culture: understanding that we all have a mandate to mālama, to care for our environment and for one another."

Kuleana - responsibility of land, sea, and natural resources, a central value in Hawaiian culture.

What We Do

We have created many programs that reach many community members every year. We are driven to understand the individuals we serve and what they need. Creating experiences that deepen relationships and offer support that will change lives as well as the environment around us. Please learn more about our current programs on this website. And contact us if you would like to participate in or support these programs.

Who We Are

The Kuleana Center is run by a small staff that is guided by an active Board of Directors, and fueled by a lot of kōkua. We could not be half as successful without the support of dedicated interns and volunteers.

Join the Cause

We extend our deepest "mahalo" to the generous donors who have demonstrated their support for the Kuleana Center. We welcome community members with diverse abilities to volunteer with us! Whether you are a student, teacher, artist, businessperson, retiree -- there is something you could do to help.
